It is with much excitement that I launch my debut blog, FICTIONADDICTION, and with great pleasure to introduce to you a wonderful author, Dorothy Love, with her debut novel, BEYOND ALL MEASURE! I first met Dorothy at the 2010 American Christian Fiction Writer’s Conference where I had the honor of introducing her workshop, Fact into Fiction: Tips & Tools for Writing Historical Novels, which she presented with Margaret Brownley.
FICTION ADDICTION will be published three times a week: Monday’s Meanderings, Wednesday’s Rebecca’s Reviews and Friday’s Favorites. Dorothy’s book belongs under Friday’s Favorites, but to tell you the truth, it just can’t wait! So, the blog launches today and I’m thrilled to present to you Dorothy Love’s BEYOND ALL MEASURE, the first in her Hickory Ridge Series!
We know Ada has spunk when she leaves Boston for Hickory Ridge, TN, with her few worldly possessions in an old trunk and a determination to not dwell on the past, but to make her own way in the world. Her plan goes awry from the start when she meets Wyatt, the handsome grandson of her new employer, cantankerous Lillian. The story engaged me from the start: the promise of romance, the setting brought the charm of Tennessee and the adventure of Texas to mind, and the relationships that blossom between the pages warmed my heart. Ada and Wyatt are two likeable people, each with their own wounds, that I rooted for right away. But how does one deal with someone like Lillian? And little Sophie will steal your heart. Amazing things happen in Hickory Ridge! And my favorite line? “It sure is a lonesome washing, Miss Ada, without a man’s shirt in it.” Amen!
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.” KJV, Psalms 19:14
